Question: What are the Character Application Templates?
Answer: This is one of the unique things about IWC. There are 25 distinct and different character templates. All of them have a basic description of the character that will give you a general idea of their long term storyline. The direction of the character will then be determined by your actions via assignments.
Question: Do I have to choose a template?
Answer: Yes, it's how things are done here.
Question: How do I choose my template?
Answer: Go to the Character Creation Templates board, find the template you want to use and simply reply to it with something like "Claimed", "I'd like to claim this", "Claiming this template" etc. The thread will then be locked and you can copy over the provided code, fill it out and post it up in the IWC Application Submission board.
Qustion: What if I choose a template and end up not liking it?
Answer: You can drop the character (at which point that template will go back into the available pool of templates), and choose a new template from the available templates. You can not drop the character and just make someone new or drop the character and choose a template that is already in use.
Question: Aren't templates a little restricting?
Answer: Not really. There's a lot of freedom within the templates. The templates basically give you a jumping off point for your character. The only things that are 'set in stone" are the things that are listed in red on the template. Everything else is up to you?
Question: Do you have full control of my character?
Answer: To an extent. A lot of the angles and feuds will be predetermined, however I'm always open to ideas and suggestions. We want an element of surprise though, so most of the time, I will be deciding how things go. You can influence things via assignments and the IWC Internal Socal Media (UConnect).
Question: What if I want to work with a specific person?
Answer: Your characters a free to interact with any of the other characters (specifically through UConnect and sometimes through assignements). However, demanding feuds or angles is a no go. As I said, I'm open to ideas or suggestions, but sometimes they might not work.
Question: What are Assignments?
Answer: Assignments are where you will develop your character and further their stroyline. You will receive an assignment for every show that you choose to participate in and may receive up to two additional assignments which are optional.
Question: If I choose to participate, so I'm not guaranteed to be booked?
Answer: After the card for the weeks show is posted up. There will be a thread posted up in the OOC section where you can say you do or do not wish to participate in next weeks show. These threads will go up on Wednesday and remain open until Sunday.
Question: So what am I required to write?
Answer: If you sign up for the show, you will have 1 mandatory assignment and may have up to 2 optional assignments. You only have to complete the mandatory ones, but the optional ones could have a dramatic effect on your character, your storyline, your place on the card, etc.
Question: So, you're deciding what I'm writing about?
Answer: Not exactly, the assignment will give you a direction for the RP, but it's more of a general idea. You will determine how the assignment is completed.
Question: Why are there only a couple of matches booked on the card?
Answer: It's to help with the live show feeling and to provide more surprise. Most times, weekly shows will only have 1 - 3 matches announced and the others will be a surprise for the 'crowd'.
Question: I've never heard of Mason, Virginia? Is it an actual city or town?
Answer: No, it is a fictional location. This was done because it allows for more interaction and freedom, in a completely exclusive environment.
Question: So are all the businesses, public services and locations, also fictional?
Answer: Yes. Once again, this provides more interaction, freedom and exclusivity. You may find that your character frequents a specific location or has a special relationship with one of the inhabitants of the city.
Question: What is the UConnect system?
Answer: It's essentially an in house twitter. You're more than free to create a twitter for your character, but having the in house social media provides more chances to interact with other characters and further or create new alliances and rivalries. In addition, there's a greater chance that management will see it if you use UConnect as opposed to twitter.
Question: I have a question that you didn't cover on here?
Answer: You can send me a PM and I will respond. If the question is within the rules, I'll direct you there. if it was covered in here and you missed it, I'll direct you back here. If it's not covered in either the rules of FAQ section, I'll answer it to the best of my ability.
